Estudiantes de posgrado

María Belén is a PhD fellowship at Universidad Nacional del Sur in Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She had an active career in Argentina between 2014-2016 working at Schlumberger Company in Mudlogging and D&M (Drilling and Measurements) tasks, including international training in France. She is actually part of CICPBA (Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas), which honored her with a scolarship to develop research on diagenesis and paleomagnetism on drill cores of Claromecó Basin, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Doctoral research is being carried out under the main guidance of PhD Nora Cesaretti (Universidad Nacional del Sur-UNS) and the co-direction of PhDRenata Tomezzolli (University of Buenos Aires-UBA) co/direction.

Germán Otharán is a PhD fellowship at Universidad Nacional del Sur in Bahía Blanca, Argentina. In 2015 he earned a co-financed scholarship between CONICET and GCS Argentina SRL to develop a PhD research in shale sedimentology aspects. Since then, Germán is performing his research working in fine-grained sedimentary deposits corresponding to Late Jurassic – Early Cretaceous Vaca Muerta Formation (Neuquén Basin, Argentina), under the guidance of Professor PhD Carlos Zavala. His current research isfocused on the understanding of mudstone accumulation processes, with a special attention to fluid mudflow deposits origin and distinctive characteristics.

Ainara Irastorza  is actually carrying out her PhD Geology studies at Universidad Nacional del Sur, Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She earned a scholarship granted by CONICET (National Center of Scientific and Techniques Research of Argentina) and started on April 2017 on her research “Origin, meaning and areal distribution of  prodelta hyperpycnites- Agrio Formation, Agua de la Mula Member (Late Hauterivian - Barremian)- Neuquén Basin”. The aim of Ainara study is to obtain a depositional model that explains mechanisms of transport and deposition of sediments related to prodeltaic hyperpycnites, based on a detailed analysis of sedimentary facies and petrographic studies, and in order to analyzed provenance, diagenesis and porosity. Different mechanisms that control development of cyclicity in different hierarchical orders are also the focus of her research.

Fernando Lebinson is a PhD student of the Universidad Nacional del Sur since 2014. His thesis theme is: Tectonic evolution of the Andean structures to the south of the Neuquen River (~ 37°35' S.L.), northern limit of the Agrio fold and thrust belt, Neuquén Province. His thesis focuses on the integration of structural field data and seismic lines that allow to create balanced cross-sections. Understanding the close relationship between the structures of different order cropping out in the inner zone of the Agrio fold and thrust belt is important to interpret the subsurface structures forming hydrocarbon oil fields in the outer zone as well as to identify other complex structures that may lead to new exploration opportunities.
